In the spring of 2020, the world was slowed down and we were kindly asked to stay home. All venues were closed and live music had to find its way through our computers. Meanwhile, Laurent used the time to go back to the basics : more practise and writing music.
The new compositions quickly formed an entirely original soul-jazz repertoire, perfectly suiting the sax-guitar-bass-drums quartet. The idea of bringing them together later in an album came naturally.
As soon as it became possible to bring a few musicians and their instruments together in the same room again, Laurent called on his partners of choice to bring to life and share this music born in isolation. While it still carries a few melancholic accents, it mainly expresses the joy of reunion and the simple pleasure of playing together.
On the album Meanwhile, two inspired guests join the quartet for even more soul.
